Hello!

We are planning to travel from London to Edinburgh immediately after arriving at LHR from the US.

I've noticed that fare estimates for the train (even though it appears we can't book until 12 weeks prior) and flights seem to run about the same for that trip, although the travel time is of course longer for the train option.

  1. How much time should I allow for getting through passport clearance and customs if we book a flight from LHR to EDI?

  2. If we take the train....After…

In A Hotel

Hello,
My name is Steve and I'm 19, and I'm gonna need to stay at a hotel for personal reasons.I have never been alone in a hotel so my question is :
What do I say when I want a room but don't have a reservation? Would I go with something like : "Hi, I wanna check in, I don't have a reservation" or something like this , "Do you have rooms available"? And how would I ask them for what period do they have the rooms ( 5 , 6 days)? I know these are weird questions but I have never been alone in a…

Hello everyone,

My friend and I are doing a 3 day stopover in Iceland before continuing to Scotland.
We fly into Glasgow but are going to take the train to Edinburgh and spend 2 days there. After that though we could use a little help. We want to see atleast atleast a taste of Scottish nature and the highlands. We were thinking of driving the third day to Stirling see the Castle and eat lunch there before going to Glencoe and hiking and see that. We were planning on ending the day at Fort…

Hi guys!
So I'm planning a trip through a group travel organization that I've traveled with before and absolutely LOVED. But now I think it's time to bring my mom along on a trip with me for all she's done for me in my life. I think it'll be a great mother daughter thing :). I want to reveal it to her on mother's day and I want to do something really creative but I'm coming up short. It's going to be an 18 day trip starting in Scotland for a few cities, travelling to Ireland for several cities…

To whom it may concern,

Just read an old article about experimental travelling, so I just had the idea for my journey to Scotland in August to ask you guys about your favorite place to be, to see, to taste...?
The first ten posts including your recommendations (one post - one place ;) )will determine my route.

I'm more than curious to read your answers!

Cheers,
Lara

I will purchase a campervan soon in the UK.
Can anyone shed any light on the matter of insurance for a non-UK license holder please?
Many thanks
Greg

Please be aware specific local sites of interest are not included for editing purposes. Some "unusual" towns mentioned are for mapping purposes only. We're looking to trim this long awaited Donegal return of what may seem possibly redundant in nature. Any trimming, alternatives or other ideas are most welcome.

We don't know when for sure we will be able to leave, likely in early June and go to the UK for 2 months. Scotland Ireland and Wales. We are a couple. Is it just a crazy idea to plan to go and not have accommodations booked ahead? Right now I see most places booked out through August.
We will be able to rent a car, so we don'talways have to be "close in" anywhere to get around. We can certainly take a bus into the cities, if we can just find places to stay closer.

Hostels are an option but not…

My mom (60) and myself (24) are beginning to plan our trip for late July/August. We have tentative plans and some preferences but are really open to any insight into our trip! Our itinerary right now, travel time not included, is:

Flying into Dublin - 2 days in Dublin
Macroom/Cork/Killarney - 3 days (mom has friends to visit there who would like to show us around)
Liverpool - 2 days
Yorkshire Dales/Lake District - 3 days
Cotswolds (?) - 2 days - this seems like a large area so we need to decide on…
