weather in londonCountry forums / UK & Ireland / England
I have been in London for the first time in June 14. the weather was so nice and daylight was so long. Now, I'm planing a trip to London around April or May next year. So I do want to know if the weather is normally nice at that time
It could be better to choose May but it's impossible to predict the weather. Michel | 1
Q..is the weather is normally nice at that time? | 2
...or yes. No-one knows. In June you will get long daylight hours, lots of flowers and it won't snow. you can never tell in the UK. It is October now and today was still warm! | 3
With London and Britain in total, you can never predict the weather some years we have a hot and warm April and a rainy may, some years different. You should never pick a time solely for the weather. | 4
You could hit up google and they would give the averages/means/medians and etc but autumn and spring are obviously the more variable times of the year. May falls into the warmer half of the year and April the lower, May is in the top half of wet months and April in the bottom half and both are in the lower half for number of days with rain, April/May fall have highest number of hours of sunshine per day. However these are just statistics and you could be just as likely lounging on a chair in Hyde Park as cowering from the rain in a bus shelter. I think you can be confident there will be no snow in London. | 5
I have seen snow in London in April on a couple of occasions, even once, about 8 years ago, a very heavy snowfall. But that is rare. More to the point, overnight frosts can still occur with some frequency in April. Many people say that April/May is the loveliest time of year in England. But it is England and you can always have a period of dull or wet weather, and you must expect it to be cold from time to time, especially at night. | 6
I've lived in London since 1969. It's snowed three tines in April since then. But I haven't seen snow in May (yet) | 7
I was in London of May this year - we had some really nice warm spring days and some horrible very damp and cold days. Whereas a friend went a few years previous and the weather was superb the whole time she was there. | 8
As indicated, to be prepared for all kinds of weather is the best advice. Michel | 9
" So I do want to know if the weather is normally nice at that time" No such thing as "normal" weather in the UK. | 10
