Hi,

Does anyone from the UK have experience of entering Vietnam on one of the new tourist e-visas? The British government foreign office entry requirements advice says this is now accepted at listed ports of entry and exit, which we are using. There is a link to the e-visa page from the foreign office website. However, I rang the Trailfinders visa service in London, who told me it was unreliable and that I could apply by post from them or the Vietnam embassy. Maybe Trailfinders just wanted my fee? There is no mention of an e-visa on the Vietnam embassy website and if you ring, it is just an automated message on postal visas. Confusing! We are there for 16 days, so a visa is required. Any clarification off anyone in the know or has experienced this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

I think that would be 100% correct.

Can you not just visit a High Street travel agent, and wouldn't they be able to assist? You could also post on the SE Asia Mainland Branch.

Most high street travel agents are as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Postal visas are only available from the embassy (Trailfinders go for you) or the online evisa that I mentioned. I will try posting somewhere else, thanks.

Hi Vik,

I went to Vietnam in April and used an e-visa. It was really easy to do and we went straight through once we'd landed in Hanoi. We were there for just over 2 weeks like you, and we were also re-entering the country (as briefly went to Siem Reap) so had to get the multi-entry one. No problems at all though, very quick and efficient. Would recommend :)

I concede that's true ... I went to one today regarding some fairly routine US flights ... spent most of my time telling them their job.

No problem, feel free to message me if you have any more questions about it :) I also used an e-visa for Cambodia which was also great.

Our Vietnam-Cambodia experience was via a cruise ship ... so a multiple-entry visa was required for Vietnam.

In Cambodia we only had about 4-5 hours in Sihanoukville our entire Cambodian time - but still had to pay a steep price, something like $US60.00 per person. But it's hard to begrudge a very poor country (assuming these funds do go down the proper channels, of course).

Thanks Louise. Did you use the link from the foreign office website for the Vietnam visa. If you google it, so many links come up claiming to be official. Have done our Cambodia ones no problem.
