am absolutely broke,
heading to UK in July on WHV with one-way ticket, but will not be able to show thousands of dollars in my account to satisfy visa req's. My folks are happy to sort me out with cash, so is there a way i can get one of their bank statements showing enough cash and perhaps a letter from them saying they are happy to fund me?
or can i get them to deposit cash into my account, or will a once off deposit look dodgy to them?
surely someone out there has been in this situation? whats the solution?
cheers

I think you'll find that many people get their folks to deposit the money for them, then give it back to their folks when they are in the UK.
There are many legitimate reasons why the money could come in a lump sum... maybe it was a gift from your parents, or maybe you saved it up in another bank account... or a piggy bank. You could have won some money...

What do the rules say? I mean, if you had a fortune at your disposal you would be taking a holiday, rather than a working holiday. I thought that a WHV was to enable you to arrive here virtually broke and earn enough money for your holiday.
Anyway, whatever the rules are they will be enforced without humour but with occasional glimpses of understanding by the immigration officers.

I put $5000 in my daughter's account for her to get her WHV - it worked.
Now I just have to get it back before she spends it!

JenPat, how long did it take for the visa to be processed?? Im doing it online, just trying to save minimum 5K first, plus the processing fee.

It took less than a week, but she paid extra for a quick turn around. Good luck with yours. The main thing seems to be not giving them any reason to think you're going to work more than the amount you're allowed to.

No, the money you earn is suposed to SUPPLEMENT your other money - plus what is someone supposed to live on until they find that job / find somewhere to stay?
