UK Ancestry Visa supporting docsCountry forums / UK & Ireland
Hi all - just wondering if anyone can share their experience of obtaining a UK Ancestry Visa, in particular any Australians. I qualify to apply, I have all the birth certificates and passports etc....the official application doesn't seem to require anything else apart from proof of funds or a letter of offer of employment. I don't have employment arranged, however I feel reasonably confident I will be able to get work quickly in my field (graphic design). I am able to show proof of funds (AUS9000)....should I supply any other info? references from past employers? a cv to show that I am employable and have been in the past? or is proof of funds (as they request) enough?
I have an ancestory visa and the application process is pretty straightforward. Also, once you have had one, you can apply for another one later on, unlike the working holiday visa. There is no need to include any extra information other than whats required. If there is not enough, they will send it back to you and ask for more. Eight weeks should be plenty of time. Good luck. | 1
I applied for the extension to my ancestry visa late last year - it was pretty straightforward really, get all the documents together, check everything against the checklist and sure enough about 6 weeks later my passport arrived back with a freshly minted extension to 2011 in there. Probably the trickiest thing was applying for a replacement birth certificate as I'd managed to misplace mine in the 4 years since getting the original visa. | 2
