Following up on the post last week about smoking at Heathrow, from the BBC today:

Other items that aren't even allowed in hold luggage when boarding a plane in the UK include the following:
Lighters
Fireworks
Matches
"E-cigarettes"

So I guess you must pack then in the checked in luggage.

"Hold" luggage is "checked-in" luggage.

Hopefully you can't manage to twist 5 words.

Perhaps alex mistook the firework for a cigarette and lit it up while in his mouth.

But what about the lobster mentioned in the same story?

All mentioned in here, including why snow globes can't go in hand luggage!

And how many fluffy handcuffs are confiscated too...

Well FCG you got me there, completely misread it. Just one thing since you responded, as you find those Thai women with farang men so objectionable what do you do when they are sitting near you on a plane?

In response to #4

You and @anachack too, an apology would be nice but there you go again, reading stuff that just isn't there. The discussion was about how recogniseable certain farang/Thai couples are. Did I say they were objectionable ? no I didn't.

They don't sit near me on a plane because I never fly economy class and farang has spent all his money on something else and can't afford business class ;-)

I always carry one lighter in my hand luggage and often another in hold luggage when leaving the UK, either Heathrow or Gatwick and never had a problem. The 'usual' rule there in one lighter per person.

Lighters are allowed only in hand luggage, they are forbidden in checked bags.
Every check-in counter has a list of forbidden and restricted items. Most passengers have a good laugh at the depicted hand grenade but all other dangerous goods are also shown there and lighters are one of them. It's irresponsible to not adhere to the rules.

I'm baffled why they included "Mace or pepper spray" on that list also since both are banned in the UK for civilian use?
