My mum will have 4-5 days alone in Europe. She is 49, and my dad died recently, so I think she would prefer a small group tour, so as not be alone. I don't know of any companies or short tours to recommend so I don't know how to help her, despite being an experienced traveller myself.

She will be in Belfast or Dublin, but can go anywhere, and end almost anywhere. I need to meet her in London or Rome.

Any tour company or place recommendations? Initially I thought Ireland (poss too painful as dad is Irish), or Cornwall...but it's appropriate tour companies I have no idea about.

Not much to go on, so I'm willing to take all suggestions (except those which tell me to go look it up myself - I need personal recommendations please!)

Trafalgar tours are alright from what I hear, it is less "Contiki" in that the passengers are generally of a more "mature" nature! Certainly when ever I have seen them touring around the UK the people getting off the bus do not look like the sort of people who would be pissing it up all night long.

My girlfriends uncle and aunty came to stay with us and did a tour with them, they had no complaints about the service. You can read more about their tours on their web site. They do tours in the UK as well as Europe so should satisfy most of your requirements.

Sorry to hear about your Dad...
