Paddywagon Tour - Causeway, Dunluce, Derry and Walking Tour feedback

Country forums / UK & Ireland / Ireland

My girlfriend and I went yesterday on the Paddywagon Tour to the Giant's Causeway, which stops at Dunluce castle and London/Free Derry.

We found the bus tour good value at £18, with ample time at the causeway and good commentary. Recommended. It is the only tour that takes in Derry, but at the time was also the cheapest.

The walking tour was however not recommended even at £4. A short walk around the city wall with frequently inaudible commentary. Although the day was wet and cold, the pace was far too fast, with next to no opportunities for photos or chances to process information. Our guide had poor personal skills and clearly too close to the conflict and therefore empassioned to offer unbiased commentary. The time would have been better spent walking around the wall and then down to Free Derry and around.

I did however have two of the best pints of Guinness I have had ever at the pub next to the town hall (on the right looking up through the arch).

I would have liked to spend at least a night or two in town.

Enjoy, and don't forget your towel!

Interesting.

I did the walking tour (of Derry) about a year ago, and I thought it was excellent.

Perhaps your guide tried to speed things up too much because of the weather.
