I'm an Aussie travelling to London and Leeds over Christmas this year and I'm trying to find a way to hire a mini for a few days. There's obviously heaps of new BMW MINIs for hire, but I'm looking for an original - having owned Leylands since my pop bought me my first car when I got my licence 6 years ago, I can think of no other car I'd rather get around in than a 'real' mini.
Does anyone know of any companies around London (I'm willing to travel to pick it up, if necessary) from whom I can hire an original mini?

not entirely serious, but it might be easier/cheaper to buy an old one on ebay for a few hundred quid....

Just hire a Fiesta or Punto. A lot easier to find and probebly a lot more cheaper. Trying to find what your looking for is like trying to find rocking horse shit.

#1, I once did that in Canada with wild success (bought a van in Vancouver, drove it to Florida and back, then sold it on), but I imagine there are all sorts of registration/insurance requirements which would end up being even more hassle to deal with.
Unless it's easier than I thought in the UK for a foreigner with no fixed address to register and insure a car on the fly?
