Country forums / UK & Ireland / England

Hiya

Theres afew of us trying to plan a night out in Manchester and wanted to find a central B&B to stay in to save on taxi fares etc. Weve checked out travelodge etc but booked up on the cheap nights or too ££.

Anybody know of any backstreet gem-like B&Bs!!??

There are a couple of Premier Travel Inns that are central and not expensive, two Ibis's, and the Gardens Hotel in Piccadilly is pretty cheap.

FYI, buses in Manchester are about 1 pound ;) Its very cheap on the bus and they run until aboout 4:30am, then start again at 6am. Just find somewhere further way then get a bus in. If you found a B&B in Fallowfield, Withington or Didsbury then you'd geta bus for £1 or less and it takes 20-30 mins to get to the city centre.

Didsbury is nicest but most expensive (although there's a travel lodge right next to a cinema/bowling alley etc)
Fallowfield is closes and next nicest.

If you got a B&B in fallowfield there are plenty of bars nearby to have a boozey time before you head right into the city center. Buses come quite literally about every 5 minutes.

#3, buses in manchester are only £1 and run till 4am if you live on the student stretch, anywhere else and you're looking at twice the price, less frequent journeys and less late night buses!

for for the OP's post.... there's a YHA in castlefield which is cheap, clean and right in the centre of manchester and i don't think they have a lockout curfew (check the website first though!). i do remember seeing a backpacker's lodge in a manchester accommodation guide, just off oldham street in the northern quarter which is a great area with lots of unique bars, shops and clubs. i cannot for the life of my remember what it's called though! have a look at manchesteronline.com, which i'm sure has accommodation listings
