Folks - sorry about the confusion. And apologies to friendly_checkingirl.....your first response reads like something auto-generated!

My question is a specific question about London Heathrow Terminal 2.

Arriving into Terminal 2, departing out of Terminal 2 - will I be forced to to go through Security again ?

I have been through LHR many times and have had to go back through security sometimes. I cant recall if i do if it is the same terminal arriving & departing.

I have looked at their website: https://www.heathrow.com/flight-connections - which suggests I would make it.

I arrive with Aer Lingus and depart with TAP/Air Portugal....Two different airlines. I have bought each leg separately & independently. I have hand luggage only and will have checked in, in advance online.

I was hoping to get someone on here who knows the LHR security layout better than me who could advise.....

As you know, Heathrow is both complicated and crowded and one hour to do anything there is a high risk. Since both airlines use Terminal 2, you may stay within the secure area and miss the immigration process (I said maybe because everything is subject to change.) But you are pretty sure to go through a security check before reaching your departure gate, including a scan of cabin bags. This process is now conducted in centralized areas which can slow things up. I'd print out or store the schedule of later flights in case you are delayed. TAP and Aer Lingus are not in the same alliance but if the flights are bought on one itinerary it is possible TAP would take care of you.

Nothing to do with same alliance, if your flight is on time and you miss your connection you have to hope for kindness and generosity from TAP as they are not liable. If the incoming flight is delayed Aer Lingus is responsible for re-booking you on the next available.

Every group has its own dynamics, if you can't see the idiot then it's probably you.
Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think :-D
