Can anybody recommend a UK bank for doing international internet transfers, but not Lloyds. They have had a known fault for a month preventing transfers. Using Firefox thay said that IE11 should work, it doesn't nor does Chrome. I don't see how a bank can have a known fault for a month preventing transfers from three browsers and they not fix it.
So time for me to find a new bank.

Why would you use a bank to do an international transfer, use something like Transferwise?

Alex
Why not take cash - US dollars or Euros?

Best for getting good exchange rate, and access to funds when you need.

Marka55 I will have to see what Transferwise is. Kaug this isn't holiday money, it is to pay somebody else. In their wisdom Lloyds allows a key piece of internet functionality to be out of use for a month. Not quite sure why this is only on International transfers and not on domestic transfers.

Marka55. What is the catch? This looks too good to be true.

I use transferwise for all international transfers. There is no catch, you get the true mid-market rate and all fees are displayed upfront. The amount the recipient gets is the actual amount transferwise quotes. I can't believe anyone is still using traditional banks for international transfers.
Try twisting those words alex :-D

Best to pay the individual or business by cheque for services if that is what you are doing.
You can pay using your UK bank cheque. The receiptant simply have to deposit it to their local account,
and they will get the funds in a few days.

I use Lloyds and want to do a transfer to Australia, so thank you for letting me know!

Kaug, your information is not correct for all countries. Australian banks will not accept a UK cheque and many people don't even have a cheque book these days.

I will check our transferees, thank you too.

Bellart Glad to be of help. Nice to know that there are still some people on TT who appreciate what is posted here and aren't always negative. Following up what Marka55 said I used Transferwise as I had to send the transfer urgently. Lloyds did offer to do it by phone but they would have had to send a security code so that would have put it into next week.
Transferwise was £4.17 against Lloyds £9.50. Not sure how the exchange rates would have panned out. It was a bit of a palaver setting it up needing the recipients email address (not mandatory) address and post code (was mandatory) as well as the account number and swift code (obviously)(for the benefit of the pedantic amongst us). Lloyds would have been hell of a lot quicker had it worked but the Transferwise details are now saved. It did require the additional stage of paying by debit card or a transfer from my bank account.
I am afraid that Lloyds have been a considerable pain in the rear the last few years and this is the final straw.
