Inishbofin vs. Inis Mor

Country forums / UK & Ireland / Ireland

I'd like to spend one night on one of the islands off Ireland's West Coast. These both seem like very cool options, but my schedule will only allow me to choose one. I'm interested in long walks, dramatic views and topography. Which do you think is better? And which is easier to access without a car? Many thanks!

Both are lovely, but Inishbofin is very small. Inish Mor is a truly amazing place, with long wonderful walks along the cliffs, with lots to explore. The ferries to Inish Mor are frequent (and easier to get to from Galway city) and you can hire a bike on the island to get around.

I have been on both and I think Inish Mor is a better option for you and easier to get to if you haven't got a car.Another island I would advise you to visit is Tory island off the coast of Donegal. The scenery there is dramatic but its a long way to travel to.
