hotel near cork

Country forums / UK & Ireland / Ireland

We are a family of 4, kids age 4 & 5, traveling from Dublin to Killarney Oct 7. We are wanting to stop off at Fota Wildlife Park so would like to stay near there. Any suggestions that would be good for a family would be appreciated!

As well as Fota, go into Cobh and visit the
towns heritage centre

There is a huge range of options around and in Cork, although so far as I know there aren't many nice options in the vicinity of Fota. A mid priced place with a good reputation in Cork City is Garnish House , which if well known for its wonderful breakfasts. Its also an easy walk from the various things to see in Cork City itself - its about 15 minutes drive from the west side of Cork City to Fota.

If you don't want to stay in the City, then it might be nice to detour down to somewhere like Kinsale for an overnight stay.

I just returned from Ireland. My mother and I stayed in Cobh, a short drive past Fota. We stayed at Gilbert's Townhouse (and restaurant). The owner, Ann, is wonderful. The staff is great. The accommodations were fabulous. If you want to know more, let me know.
