If you are going from Victoria coach station or Liverpool St. station to Stansted airport, it looks like you will be put on 2 buses to get to your destination, which will take much more time. Details here.

It used to be National Express, Terravision and easybus that ran to Stansted, it all seems to have changed this month, National Express still does but the others have been replaced by Airport Bus Express (like Terravision an Italian company run by Autostradale) and Stansted Citylink (a Singaporean company run by ComfortDelGro); the easybus vans are gone and they now sell tickets on the National Express service (cheaper than you would get from National Express if you book in advance and travel off-peak) and Terravision is also gone (they have a deal with Stansted Citylink to Kings Cross/St. Pancras and Terravision from there to Victoria cheaper than Stansted Citylink to Kings Cross/St. Pancras).

I've always found Stansted such a pain to get to from just about anywhere over 60 or so miles away, apart from on the direct rail link. From the NW, or Scotland, it's so messy.
If I can, I avoid it as much as possible.
On Clive Anderson's TV show 1 night he asked.. "Liberal Democrats & Stansted Airport, what's the point?"

#2, lenny, if you want to use Ryanair from London the vast majority of their flights are from Stansted.

I know. Best avoid Ryanair then, eh?

If you lived south of the river Gatwick is good, Heathrow west, Luton north (?) and Stansted east. I used to use Stansted when I lived near Liverpool St station because of the express train which is still a good option for access the tube system (well better than bus/train for Luton but probably not as as good as LGW which has Thameslink tube stations and Victoria tube stations as options and LHR which is on the tube system).

I live on the Suffolk/Essex border, in the heart of what ought to be STN territory, and Gatwick is still slightly easier by public transport!

To think that back in the 70s we had the chance to build a state of the art 4 runway Thames estuary airport linked to London with a dedicated high speed train and we finished up with Stansted and what amounts to a commuter train to Liverpool Street, and the endless arguments about London's third runway.
