cellphone service

Country forums / UK & Ireland / Scotland

Hello everyone. Im going to be traveling to Scotland in two months and have been told that my cellphone carrier, Verizon does not work overseas. Does anyone know of a carrier that is the most inexpensive to use while i am there? I will already be spending a lot of money on travel expenses and dont want to pay the outrageous fees. Anyone that can help me, i would really, really appreciate it!
Thanks a bunch, Cheri

Depends where you're going.
If you're going to out-of-the-way places you might not get a signal with all the networks that are on offer over here.
I don't know about prices, but Vodafone, Orange and O2 are the only signals i can get where i stay and i'm not too far out of the way.

Tell us where in scotland your going to be ?

2

Just buy an international calling card (available from any independent cornershop newsagent, particularly in the multi ethnic areas) and then use that via a public payphone. That's by far the cheapest option.

3

Alternatively, don't call anyone until you get home, how long are you gonna be in Scotland for?
