| brewster09:28 UTC01 Mar 2007 | My husband and I are wanting to take our two kids (2 and 3 months) to Scotland for 1 year. We are planning on getting a working holiday visa, He is 29 and is planning on working and I am not. We have read up lots on it and are just getting more confused if anyone can give us some advice that would be great. 1) We aren't sure if we need to get visa for our two children or if we can add them on to ours. 2) When sending our applications in do we need to send in our passports and Birth Certificates. 3) Will one month worth of proof of money be good
Any other advice would be great!

Your only option will be a work permit (ie: sponsorship by a company in the UK) so if you are keen to go you should start applying for jobs. It's not easy.
Once you have a work permit, you are able to add dependent family members to that permit but they all have to be applied for separately and I think they still need entry clearance visas of their own as well. Part of the requirements of visa/work permit are enough money to support yourself and any dependents during your entire stay in the UK (although there is obviously some variation to this with a work permit - you have to be able to prove your income will support you and any dependents).
There is more information on www.workingintheuk.com (or google it - might have wrong address!)
Scotland is great. You will love it. As you're Canadian there's a fair chance either yourself or your husband may be eligible for ancestry visas - check to see if either your/spouse parents or grandparents were British and this will entitle you to a 4 year Ancestry visa (much better than WHV and dependents allowed so long as you prove you can support them). As yet, Scotland still operates under the whole-of-UK immigration system, so any websites you might find to assist you in migrating to Scotland will not provide you with specific advice but will redirect you to English sites. If you do a google search on 'work in scotland' or 'relocation advisory service, scotland' there is more information on working/living in Scotland. They will also answer your email/phone queries.
Good luck!
