Campsite around London, allowing drinkingCountry forums / UK & Ireland / England
I’m organising a camping trip with some friends and am looking for a campsite accessible from London (maybe a train ride away), that is relaxed enough to let a group of people drink. Does anyone know of such a campsite, or what areas are best to look for campsites nearby London, accessible by train?
I can't see why any would want to ban you from drinking, provided that you weren't obnoxiously drunk | 1
Try looking on Pitchup.com for farm campsites. They're probably what you're after. For example, this one is close enough to a train station: http://www.pitchup.com/campsites/England/South_East/Surrey/Lingfield/osney-lodge-farm/ | 2
the issue is not the drinking, as I think you realise. The issue is a bunch of loud kids guzzling booze and shrieking and vomiting all night. if you can hold your drink and keep the noise down after whatever time the site specifies, no-one will mind. | 3
Could have a problem if your group is mostly male - though in my experience cackling hen parties are far worse | 4
most places don't like single-gender groups of either kind - for just these reasons! | 5
There is a place called Theobalds Park Camping & Caravan Site | 6
As a Brity I'd be extremely unhappy, if I wanted a few beers and some finger wagger turned up and told me I couldn't booze. He'd have a one man riot on his hands. On the other hand I don't go on the rampage when I'm drunk, I tend to have a kebab and then pass out. So a previous answers suggest, it'll be fine as long as you are able to hold your drink. If not then you won't be very popular ANYWHERE in the UK. | 7
