bar/club recs for NYE in DublinCountry forums / UK & Ireland / Ireland
As a follow-on to my last thread....
Hi again. My fave Irish food restaurant is Gallagher's Boxty house in Temple Bar (sorry about that). They don't take bookings (which means turn up and they'll say come back in an hour), I am not sure they are open NYE so check. Cafe en Seine on Dawson St (young professionals,) is going to be chockers on NYE but most are (no live music though and their beer menu is standard). Temple Bar in Temple Bar does decent food, has live music, a standard range of beer but is likely to be touristy. The Quays (sorry, Temple Bar again) has a good restaurant upstairs, the usual for beers (there is not a huge ale culture in Ireland) and live music (but is likely to be touristy). The International is good, as is The Porterhouse (a microbrewery so that would fit the beer bill, does food, not sur eabout crowd but quite upmarket but again no live music). | 1
The Porterhouse central does have live music on occasion, personally prefer it when its not on though (crowd normally not full of tourists), The Bull and Castle has a good selection of beers and some of the nicest "bar food" you can get in dublin and personally I prefer it too Porterhouse, but no live bands and don't think its a late bar, personally lived in Dublin 7 years and only gone out on new years in the city centre once, place is jammed and bars that are normally free in charge 20 euro etc | 2
