Arsenal vs Derby County tickets

Country forums / UK & Ireland / England

Hi
I will be in London on the weekend of 22-23 September and I would like to see the match Arsenal vs Derby County at Emirates Stadium on Sat afternoon,....the website says it's sold out,......any chance to find tickets on the match day ? Is it a good idea to go there and look for scalpers ( I hope is the right word for people selling tickets for cash around the stadium ) ? What is the the price I am expected to pay for a normal seat ?

Thanks in advance ?

I've never been to football match in the UK because it's too difficult to get tix to big matches normally and couldn't tell you how much you'd pay either! : /

But I've been to plenty of other sporting events and concerts and there are always scalpers about - no matter how small the concert or sporting event. I've also been told by regular football match goers that you will find scalpers around - so it's worth a try if you're desperate... I guess even if you don't get a ticket, it'll be a day out!

OP, if you must buy from a ticket tout (scalper), be careful, it is illegal to buy or sell, plus some unscrupulous sort may give you a fake ticket or at least rip you off. My advice is don't do it, but if you're desperate then ok.

However, you could telephone the club and see if there are tickets avilable (number will be on their website, easily found). Arsenal have a big ground now and Derby isn't a glamorous game for them so you never know, you may be lucky. I suspect tickets will be about £30 upwards, up to about £60 probably, but you'd pay a tout much more than that if it was sold out anyway.

I suggest you post on World of Sport, there are at least three Arsenal fans posting regularly there (Fabregas, Exiledgooner and Lem), and one of them may offer advice that may be of more help.

Oh you're right! Initially I thought that touting was illegal was incorrect, but this bbc article from 2005 indicates that only football ticket touting is illegal! Go figure eh. That explains why I regularly see touts outside concert venues and police mingling with them.

Getting ripped off by touts goes without saying, it just depends on how badly you wanna see the game I guess... bartering with them isn't out of the question either.

there are internet sites offering tickets to the game for about £130.

" it just depends on how badly you wanna see the game I guess"

indeed as its derby and if you don't have to see it, it might be worth waiting until just before or after kick off to see if the scalpers have any left any what they are willing to get rid of them for

Although you may end up paying a VERY high price for tickets, I would advise that you do it in order to experience an amazing atmosphere at a Premiership game. You may not get a chance to go to many and will remember it for a long time.

If you're used to AFL or Rugby(league/union), you will get a crowd that makes the game entertaining, even if the action on the pitch isn't the best!
