Just a thought - why not look at 'open-jaws' tickets? This means you fly out from one place and back from another. This could save you both time and money.
If you are connected to a group like Star Alliance, for example, you can use air miles for any airline within that group. )(And often it's cheaper to fly back from, say Dublin.) Take a creative look at www.skyscanner.com or www.kayak.com to see what's possible.
I don't know how you're planning to walk around with baby, but I'd recommend a McLaren baby buggy - Maclaren Mark II Recline was listed at £100 at John Lewis in January. It's lightweight and folds into a walking stick (or umbrella) shape. I took my 13 month old son hitchhiking from London to Istanbul in the very first model of this one. We had a fabulous time. I'm sure you will, too.

That’s actually a great idea, considering I’ve decided to bounce around a bit. It’s negligable to change my mileage ticket to depart the U.K. from Dublin, and it gives me 2 extra days in Ireland (plus less overall travel for me and babe!). Thank you!! Sometimes it takes an outsider to see the obvious lol
I’ll have our baby-carrier so I can tote her around on my back, but I’m also probably going to bring my travel system (because I’ll need a car seat anyway). It’s very light and simple, but of course a stroller and a large roller bag is always going to be cumbersome.

Speaking as the parent of a nearly one-year old in Cambridge who lived previously in London (and still visits often), there are many many more things to do in London with a baby than in Cambridge. Aside from regular events at the many London museums, here are some links for things to do:
Unicorn Theatre
Southbank Centre
Bach to Baby
City Farms
BigFishLittleFish
