6 Day Irish ItineraryCountry forums / UK & Ireland / Ireland
Hi, | ||
The only thing that is predictable about Irish weather is that it's unpredictable. You're likely to get some dry sunny days in Oct but just as likely to get wet ones too. Either way it will be coldish, especially at night. There has been some talk of snow for the end of Oct but that's insane so hopefully they are wrong. Do the 6 days include your traveling days? If so that only gives you 4 full days so I wouldn't venture too far as Dublin itself needs about 2 days if you're interested in seeing what it has to offer. If you like scenic countryside you definitely have to include the Wicklow mountains national park, including Glendalough (monastery, graveyard etc.). From there you could head to Kilkenny, nice town with a great castle. The rock of cashel in Tipperary is worth a visit but you may not have time. Other places that may be of interest near Dublin are Newgrange (google it), Carlingford and the Mourne mountains region. | 1
hi as post 1 says if you only have 4 days to travel/see sites you are best advised to spend maybe 2 days seeing sites around dublin - Guiness Storehouse, Dublinia, Christchurch cathedral, Temple Bar, Trinity College (book of kells), Dublin castle, Kilmainham Jail, hope this helps | 2
weather see ....MET.IE / | 3
Take in the small coast road to Torr head and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge on the way frm Dublin to Giants Causeway. | 4
Disagree with #4, don't drive all the way up to Northern Ireland to see two sights.Donegal is too far in this time frame. Assuming you do have six days or so, spend a couple in Dublin, and then stick to Killkenny, Rock of Cashel. Or over to Galway too, if you feel ambitious. Check out the OPW sites on heritageireland.com to see what lights you up. | 5
oops i think i replied to the wrong thread. I had thought you were going to the Giants Causeway thats what the recommendations in #4 were about | 6
