Hi guys. I'm hoping to travel Scotland over easter, and I found a tour with most of the places I want to go to:
http://www.haggisadventures.com/scotland/island-explorer-tour

Not really a fan of organised tours, but it provides all transport and a guide to explain stuff, which should be good. Also traveling alone so company would be nice. The only problem is, I'd prefer to spend a bit more quality time in each location; I have 2 weeks total to travel. So I'm a bit torn.

Do you think it would cost roughly the same amount (or simmilar enough) if i were to make my own way roughly along this route? The tour weirdly doesn't include accommodation, so essentially it will cost me 260 pounds to follow this itinerary. (I have a budget of 600 pounds for 2 weeks - is it even possible at all to travel Scotland for this time with this amount of $$?) I'm a student if that makes any difference.

Thank so much! :D

Most of the mainland component and Skye can be covered by Citylink buses. The 8 out of 16 explorer pass sounds good for your requirements £79.

Maybe think of hiring a bike on Lewis/Skye. Plenty of hostels on your route for cheapish accommodation say £15-£20 per night.
Ferries £15
Cut out the food and concentrate on the beer and you will stay within budget!

2 weeks on £600 is doable if you plan ahead a bit and are okay with staying in hostels. Hostels are generally good places to meet people if you are looking for some company for a day or more exploring the area.

The route the tour takes is good, but if you have two weeks it seems a shame to rush through it in a week. I would probably make my own way and enjoy my time a bit more. It would be wise to check ahead to see if things are open. The majority of places open over the easter weekend up North, but just check if hostels you are aiming for are open.

Thanks for the responses! Extremely helpful, exactly the info i was after :D
If you want to offer advice on specific things to do / roughly how long to spend at each place I'd be more than grateful to take it~!

Also over Easter as well as checking whether hostels are open you should also check whether they are full. I turned up once on Easter Monday to find all hostels full.

You don't say what you want to see/do so for starters:
How about
Day 1 - Edinburgh to Inverness
Day 2/3 Visit Culloden/Fort St George/Loch Ness(if you must)
Day 4 Achmelvich Youth Hostel (only open at weekends)
Day 5 Ullapool
Day 6/7/8 Harris/Lewis
Day 9/10/11 Skye
Day 12 Glencoe
Day 13 Edinburgh
( one day spare)
Make sure you travel light.
