Hi

Am loving our time in Scotland over past week, despite the current horrid weather. Currrently in Fort William.

Next week we will be catching a ferry to St Margaret's Hope from Gill's Bay at 13.30. The night before we are planning on staying at Durness. Now that we have experienced the one lane roads (eg Mull) I am .sure that we will be able to get from Durness to Gill's Bay in time. Can someone please advise me on the state of the road and an approx time it will take to drive across so we can changew our plans or get up very early. (I drive just under the speed limit)

Thanks

Yes, I had looked at GoogleMaps originally and hence the decision to spend the night at Durness and catch a middleof the day ferry, but then been told that they are not particularly accurate. Do you know this road? Is it one lane or two?

Thanks

As long as you don't hit traffic problems I reckon times are reasonable In this case its going about 40 mph so it knows it's not a motorway! I haven't been east from Durness for a while but last time it was single track initially. You will obviously want to build in time for view stops etc.

Stop, for sure, but don't park (at least not if you're heading out of sight of road) in passing places nor in gateways - other vehicles may need the passing place to, well, pass each other.

Thanks for the advice

There's a fast bit of road past the nuclear power station!
