Planning a trip through Inverness, Fort William, Skye, Outer Hebrides, Mull, Oban, Trossachs and Glasgow. Can I rent a bicycle in Inverness and return to a location in Fort William? could I keep the same bike and return it in Glasgow? Can I combine bicycle and bus for longer stretches? Does the Jacobite train allow bikes? I'm not sure if this is even a workable plan.

You'll have to search individual bus company websites to find out if they allow bikes on buses.
Very unlikely that a bike hire shop will permit one way hire, but no harm asking.
