On the way back to the USA from an African holiday, I want to arrange for a 2 or 3 night layover in Dublin and environs. It turns out that my possible connection dates fall right around St. Patricks Day.

As a first-time visitor (probably not in a party-all-night frame of mind) to Ireland, should I do a short Dublin-Galway visit before, during, or after the holiday? Any special considerations as far as closings, reduced transit schedules, or basic etiquette?

Thanks much!

Hi,
I'm an American trying to plan a trip to Ireland for my mother and I. She has always wanted to go, and I always promised her that I would take her.
I'm not much in the money department, and don't know where to begin planning or looking for things to do.
I don't want to try and cram too much into the trip since she and I both enjoy wandering about and catching the sites and enjoying scenery.

Any suggestions on how to go about this process? I'm very lost, and have never traveled outside the…

Wonder if anyone can suggest a " self catering" style cottage or small house within the towns of Dingle, Killgorin, or Kilharney that can accomodate 7? We are a family of 5 with three teenage girls and 2 grandparents, who would prefer to be within a short walk to pubs and cafes. Perhaps a resonably inexpensive B & B that might discount to eu200,00 per night for all seven? This would be for June 4-10. The younger ones would like to plan day-trips while the older two would prefer to spend time…

I'm coming to Dublin for one very long day (got a very cheap fare that I couldn't turn down). What is the best way to get from the airport to the center of the city, and what is the best way to get around the city by public transportation? I just plan to leisurely see a site or two and relax, stroll, etc. Any recommendations would be helpful.

PPS Number

Hi
I am a New Zealand citizen and am travelling through to Ireland to work for the year on a working holiday visa. I know you have to set up a PPS number so that you can can be taxed and the ordinary rate, but they ask you for confirmation of your address? How do you do this if you are staying in a hostel and are waiting for get a job before moving into a house? What have others done so that this process is easier?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping there are a few people on this forum that can give me some information about Ballina in County Mayo, like a good place to stay (preferably a hostel to meet other people), eat, things to do, etc? It's twin town is Ballina in Australia where I've spent a fair bit of time, so I really want to visit Ballina in Ireland while I'm here but don't know the first thing about it! Will 1 night be enough time to get a feel for the place? I'll be getting the bus or train from Dublin…

Hey,

I am going to Dublin on a weekendtrip in February and was wondering if anybody knows if there are like short courses/introductions to folk dance (e.g. one night in a pub) or a short whiskey tasting course?
