I will be in Ireland for the last two weeks of August. Although I'm flying in and out of Dublin and will be staying with a friend there, I will be traveling on my own via train and bus for part of that time - probably the 20th - 27th. I'd like to spend a good amount of time on the West Coast. I'd love any suggestions for cheap places to stay and good things to do on my own, and good places to meet interesting people.
Hello Everyone,
I just got back from an amazing 2.5 month trip to Ireland and am thinking about going back within a month of two (August/September). I am wondering, is this possible? I am an American citizen, so I know I am granted a 90 day travel entry, but can you do this multiple times in one year? I have searched around online and haven't found any info on this.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Kat
Hello all,
My boyfriend and I will be in Dublin for a night in mid-July and would like to find a mid-range hotel close to pubs, good casual restaurants and nightlife. We don't care for the fancier hotels--just clean and in a good spot. Any suggestions?
Thanks a ton,
Melissa
Okay so according to LP flights between Dublin and London can be had for a handful of Euros, but the lowest prices I'm seeing are 175 dollars a ticket, round trip. We really want to fly on Friday on both trips... so I know this will be more expensive. Should I book these tickets? And does anyone have any advice on how and where to get the lowest fairs?
Thanks!
Hello all!
In early October my boyfriend and I are travelling Ireland. We are flying in out of Dublin. Our plans involve renting a car in Cork and dropping it off a few days later in Galway. I plan to spend 2 nights along the way, one close to the Dingle Peninsula, and one close to the Cliffs of Moher. My question is, where along that path would be the best places to sleep?
For the first night, upon leaving Cork, should we plan to sleep in Dingle, or Tralee? Or somewhere else?
Then for…
Looking for a B & B with the following:
West coast of Ireland; in either County Galway, Mayo or Sligo.
Water view.
Walking distance of a pub (or two).
Prefer small villages, the more dramatic coastal views the better.
Does this B & B exist?
My husband and I would like to go to Ireland for about a week in August.
We live in London, so neither one of us drives. We aren't keen on hitch-hiking or organised group trips, so we'll have to rely on public transport.
What can we see without a car?
We can fly into Dublin, Shannon or Cork. Which would you recommend?
We'd like to see the stunning cliffs and all of the things that people want to see their first time in Ireland. I know that we won't have time to see everything. Where should…
We plan to vacation in Ireland for a week or two, flying from the US to either Dublin or Shannon and then renting a car. Our plan is to take a leisurely 'stroll' through southern or even just southwestern Ireland by rented car. It appears that a US Driver's license is acceptable for driving in Ireland, but I also see references to the differences in licensing for manual and automatic gearboxes. Do these restrictions apply in some way to US drivers? Though I have never driven 'on the left'…
Hi,
I've noticed that most sites/books do the Slea Head drive clockwise. Is there any good reason NOT to go counterclockwise? We are traveling south from the Cliffs of Moher and I thought maybe we could do the drive counter clockwise and end up in Dingle for the night.
Thanks,
Dana
I'm planning our first trip to Ireland and we are looking at being there late in October or possible early November. Is this not a good time to visit Ireland? I'm also pondering waiting until spring and just going to Rome in Oct./Nov.
Thanks!!
