Hello,

Myself and two friends plan to travel to Ireland on a working holiday. I just have a couple of working holiday type questions.

I have heard varied reports about the impact of the world financial crisis in Ireland and thus have also heard varied reports in regards to gaining a Irish Working Holiday Visa.

Does anyone (Australian or not) know of any difficulties in regards to attaining Irish Working Holiday Visas in recent times?
Also I was just wondering if anyone was able to offer any…

I'm leaving in a couple of days for Belfast and I'm trying to decide if it is worth changing most of my US money into British Pounds (and some euros for our stay in Dublin) or bring most of it in travelers checks and changing while we travel up through Ballycastle, Londonderry, Enniskillin, Rostrevor, Dublin and Belfast. Any suggestions?

We plan on renting a car for 5 days of travel leaving Dublin airport. We plan on seeing a couple castles near dublin and staying in Trim/Meath for one night. Then we need some suggestions on the best itinerary.

Day 1 July 31, visit Malahide Castle, leave to Trim, stay night
Day 2 Aug 1, skip Galway and head directly to Doolin. How long of a drive approx. would this be?
Day 3 Aug 2, tour caves/islands/cliffs.
Day 4 Aug 3, head where? Kilkenny?
Day 5 Aug 4, head back in the direction of Dublin, want…

I've been looking into small-group 5 - 7 day tours of Ireland. Vagabond and Wolfhound seem to offer similar tours. Any ideas on whether one is better than the other?

Hi, we'll be traveling to Ireland for 10 days in August this year and are having a really difficult time nailing down our itinerary. I'm hoping someone can lend some advice. Here are the basics: there are 4 of us going (all mid-30's in age) and we're mostly interested in taking it easy - experiencing the pubs, seeing live music, seeing the landscape, and taking in some culture.

Here is our itinerary so far:

3 nights in Dublin
2 nights in Galway
1 night in Dingle or Killarney before driving the…

Traveling to Ireland next week. Here is my itin. Maybe I can get some last minute suggestions from locals :)

Wednesday Morning arrive in DUB. Staying at the Maldron at Parnel Square. From what i read, i can take the 747 Airlink, what stop is closest to this hotel. Does anyone know if this is a good central location?

We will only be in DUB for one night, as we want to see more of the country. I read up a little on Dublin. I thought of checking out O'Connel Street, Trinity, Grafton, St Stephens…

We are headed to Dublin from Dingle July 24th for 2 nights. We can't seem to find anything available near the city center. Does anyone have any recommendations? We're seeing U2 in Croke Park on Saturday, so please let me know of any suggestions.

Thanks!

4 of us are planning a driving holiday in Ireland for 6 nights towards the end of August. We come into Dublin and fly out of Shannon.

We plan to spend 2 nights in Dublin, and then drive out to Galway. Using Galway as a base, we then plan to spend the next 4 days exploring the area around Galway. Any suggestions and recommendations? Would it be more advisable spending 3 nights in Dublin and 3 in Galway?

Any hotel recommendations in Dublin and Galway? I would not want to spend more than 60 Euros…

Hi there,

Just have a quick question about the one bag cabbin luggage policty which Aerlingus have, how strict is it? I know Ryanair are anal and charge you 30EUR at the gate.. How does Aerlingus compare to this? Im looking to carry two fairly standard cabbin baggage suitcases in a few weeks and was wondering if I would be let through..

Many thanks!

Ruairi

Hi,

I am an Australian resident who worked in Dublin on a WHV for just under three months (Oct – Dec 2008). I tried to get my P45 and P60 from the company I worked for before I returned to Australia (end of January 2009) however apparently they hadn’t been sent from the main office to the branch I worked at by then. I left my branch with an address in Dublin they could send them to but they are yet to arrive there despite the company claiming they have sent them.

I was intending to lodge a tax…
