What to do with £10 in coin in Dublin?

OP is in Dublin, as stated in the title of the post, so asking for a sterling note in exchange for the coins is unlikely to work.

Many, perhaps most, Dublin shops will actually accept sterling coins at face value in euro, i.e. take your GBP1.00 as payment to the value of €1.00. Not a very good deal for you, but if you're not going to be in the North or the UK again any time soon probably your best option.

Oops.... I misread it as OP being in Ulster.... Sorry.

Even if the OP had a £10 note (N Irish or sterling) it would hardly be worth changing it into €s because of the commission/crap exchange rate. The OP might be able to find a friendly bar person in Dublin willing to exchage his coins for a pint - I doubt very much whether it would stretch to 3 unfortunately ;-)

#13 - it shouldn't be that bad! Retail exchange rates in Ireland are nowhere near as bad as in England. You would have to look around for a while to get three pints out of it in Dublin, all right.

#14 agreed but most places that exchange cash have a minimum charge, say €5, if that's the case its hardly worth trying to change £10 - you'd only get a €3-€4 for it.
