We just got back from a wonderful week in Ireland. One of the hotels we stayed was the Maldron Cardiff Lane in Dublin. It is located down the block from the water and about 7-8 blocks from Temple Bar with its nightlife.
The Maldron Cardiff Lane was comfortable and had a really nice pool and jacuzzi. When I booked the rooms, one of the thigns I liked was the shuttle to the airport.
However, I discovered they do not have an airport shuttle directly at the hotel. It's a private shuttle that operates across the river (or is it a canal at that point). I don't remember how much it cost (6 euro, I think).
I am writing just to alert any fellow travelers that the staff at the front desk did not have the right information regarding the shuttle to the airport. Even though I asked three different people just to be sure, they were all wrong.
They told me to walk across the river (or is it a canal at that point). Then there is a modern building that is some kind of conference center (sorry I cannot remember the exact name). Across from that is a bus stop - but it is for drop off only!
The bus is #747 so when it arrived I flagged it down. The driver tried to explain to me where I was really supposed to go - on the other side of the road and down another block. Instead of explaining directions, he nicely drove me around to it and let me off just as the shuttle bus was arriving to go to the airport - so in a nick of time, I was able to catch it.
I am going to send an email to the hotel as well but wanted to be sure somebody else doesn't get lost trying to find the shuttle!
If I go back to Dublin, I think I might like to be closer to Temple Bar next time. But the Maldron pool really was great.
