I am taking two good looking responsible19 yr. old students to Dublin for three nights. How safe is it for them to be at the pubs, say temple bar etc. I'm thinking it would be fine as long as they hail a cab back to the hotel.

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to have a night in hotel outside Dublin (perhaps something touristy) and still make it to the airport for a 10:00 am flight the next morning? I was thinking of Kilkenny, or county meath or Carlingford or Howth?

Any good theatre or shows of anysort or something different to do, for a couple of 60 yr. olds? for around Aug.29-30-31?

Thank you in advance for your reponse

The Temple Bar is safe for anyone with half a brain. We were there for my 30th birthday a few months ago and had a brilliant time. Lots of people talk to you, and in one bar we simply couldn't buy our own drinks. It was fantastic! Don't get me wrong - we saw the drinks being poured so there was nothing dodgy going on. On the whole we found it very safe and very friendly indeed. Taxis were easy to come by and it is all compact for staggering from bar to bar if they want to do that as well.

Temple bar is safe, presuming you intend on getting out of there by 1.30am, after that it tends to get a bit messy as the various stags and hen parties collide. But even then its not too bad, if you are not looking for trouble and don't engage with the odd dodgy character then you should be OK. Only dodgy part is trying to walk on cobble stones in high heels after a few drinkies, so flip flops in your hand bag are always good. Overall, it is worth heading into temple bar for the experience but don't be afraid to check out other authentic Irish pubs on Georges street only 5 min walk from temple bar like 'anseo' and 'the long hall' thats where you will meet more Irish people and less tourists.

Something touristy for your 60 year olds - if you could make one day earlier i.e August 28th, you could catch riverdance on in the gaiety theatre or check the website for other listings. http://gaietytheatre.ie

....... you don't say whether the "Beauties" are girls or boys ?

Stay in Howth maybe, Kilkenny is too far except you have a hired car and leave early
