Hi, would you guys suggest a day trip to the Ring of Kerry from Dublin or Galway? I am in Ireland for 5 days and I am considering spending 2 days in Dublin and Galway each with a day for travel.

Also some user comments on other forums said that on most ring of kerry tours one doesn't get any opportunities to get off the bus and take in the views. Is that true?

Quick answer: No.
Even with the good toads from Dublin I would leave myself 3.5/4 hours to get to Kerry and same to get back. Not fun if you are driving yourself.
I see it is possible to take a train and link up with a tour from Killarney and that Paddywagon advertise day trips leaving around 6 in the morning.
Roads from Galway not as good, therefore much slower driving, wouldn't recommend either. Can't see it possible to get from Galway to Kerry by public transport in time to join a tour there.
Why do you want to do the Ring of Kerry in such a short visit? Dublin and Galway will keep you busy for 4 days or longer. Or go straight to Kerry and forget about Galway (assuming you are travelling through Dublin and not Shannon)
