My friend and I will be travelling the Ring of Kerry in October and would appreciate any information on Hostels andor B& Bs
Thanks,
Chris

There are hundreds. Some good, some not so good, but most are acceptable. Some expensive, some affordable, few grubby, some kitschy, some stylish, some cosy. Some charming, others functional. Some available, others not.
You're welcome.

P.S.: Really, you should be more precise what you want to know about places to stay.

Thank you for the Thorntree tutorial, much appreciated. I agree, I really wasn't very specific. We are a couple of old fellas who have been friends for over 40 years , we like to travel as well and as cost-effectively as we can, to gather intesting stories to tell ourselves and our grand children when we get REALLY old.
Our sleeping requirements are as varied as they are basic. For example, last year we enjoyed our stay at Paddy's Doolin Hostel @ E16/per night. We also stayed at several B&Bs @ approx. E25/per night. and a couple of hotels @ E45/per night. Good, clean, charming, affordable, and well situated is the ideal criteria. All of our travel is by bus, Three days is about the maximum we'll stay anywherewe. We like to walk as much and as far as a couple of old guys can to see as much of the land as we can. We've been known to stop for a pint or two at the local pub preferably one with traditional Irish music and frequented by as many of the wonderful Irish folks as we met last year. I hope that narrows the scope down a bit. Again, thank you for your response Carraig.
Regards,
Chris & Dave

Thank you Cleona and Dara, I have heard several other comments supportive of your advise. Rgds-Chris

I just got back from Ireland, and definitely agree with #3 and #4 !!
The Dingle penisular is far more beautiful, and Dingle Town has a much better vibe then Kilarney !!
ONE LOVE !!
Mike

Well, I agree with the previous posters to choose Dingle instead of Iveragh. Or even better imo is the Beara Peninsula. It's a dream!
But if you set to "do" the RIK there are plenty of nice places. Valentia Island is a bit off the usual tourist route, as is the smaller Skellig Ring. Or away from the coast the Caragh Lake Circuit is lovely.
Along the RIK I like Sneem and Cahersiveen, Caherdaniel isn't bad either. Kenmare is far more beautiful than awful Killarney.
You'll find hostels in Ballinskelligs, Cahersiveen (Sive Hostel), Glencar (Climbers Inn) and in Waterville (Bru na Dromoda).
B&Bs are plenty around the RIK. I especially like Iskeroon (www.iskeroon.com) in Caherdaniel, a bit cheaper is the Sacrriff Inn (www.caherdanel.net). In Ballinskelligs try the Beachcove (www.stayatbeachcove.com) or in Portmagee the Moorings (www.moorings.ie).<BR>Cahersiveen is famous for the music in pubs, but you'll find it almost everywhere along the RIK, though depends on the day of week.
One of my favourite restaurants is Sheilin in Waterville, the QC's Seafood Bar in Cahersiveen serves delicious fish dishes.
