I've had my name spelled wrong on tickets many times and just ignoed the problem, turned up and never had a problem. In these cases though it's been an obvious tyo or getting my first and last name the wrong way round If it sems obvious, I'd just turn up.

#9, thats why you deal with the problem before check in
#8 yeah, yeah, i know, I blame my old dodgy laptop!

Thanks for all your replies.
Finally got through to Ryanair call centre yesterday & the phone jockey was adamant that "James Tiberius Tiberius" & "James Tiberius Kirk" are not the same person & therefore, a 100 Euros name change fee is applicable.
So I just paid 20 Euros booked another ticket for James Tiberius Kirk & pledge never to fly on Ryanair again. How, with all the EU regulations & the nanny state (e.g. food labelling on a pack of peanuts "may contain traces of nut") can Ryanair get away with this sort of behaviour?

Ryanair's website doesn't have a field long enough to hold both Spanish last names and it can't cope with accents or the letter ñ. Nevertheless that hasn't stopped Spain flying with them.
Your mistake was to ring up and check instead of just turning up. The answer they give will always be the one which brings in the most money.

#13...and run the risk of the person being refused boarding the flight and having to pay more for a new ticket for the flight......

Possibly. However as I suggested I suppose it doesn't really matter, their website has a bug which affects most of Europe.

Even if it's a minor spelling mistake, ryanair will not allow you change the ticket free of charge as someone said above. that's why they have all these ridiculous charges and stuff added on, that's how they make their money!!!!

#16, I have done it dozens of times with Ryan air, easy jet and other low cost airlines, sometimes it's free, often at a small admin fee muh less than actualy changing the name
