Hey everyone,
We have fourteen days in Ireland and I have drafted up a good itinerary. I am confused, however, as to which to choose between Beara, Sheepshead or Mizen Head Peninsulas?
Which is less packed in terms of visitors? Which is the most beautiful? I do like the feeling of remoteness in north Beara, and that's what Im looking for mostly.
Please advise!
Thanks!
Alex

I don't think you can do any real wrong on any of these peninsulas...none of them are really over-touristed and are all beautiful, in their own barren way...

My guess is the Sheeps Head one is the least visited and most remote...but if you have your own transport then you can rove up and down and all around, to your own satisfaction...

I'm curious on this as well :-) I'm working on my 10 day itinerary and I have Beara, Dingle and Mizen Head on the list. I honestly haven't come across any mention of visiting Sheepshead while in Ireland so I'm wondering if that means it's less spectacular?

Mizen Head I thought was just a view point, whereas Beara you get to do a loop. I recently found this very long and detailed driving route for Beara: http://ireland.activeboard.com/t11301562/kinsale-to-castlegregory-w-beara-rok/

I'm considering dropping Mizen Head as it's slightly out of the way and would free up more time in other areas. The bridge and view look great though. Hopefully I can research a bit more in the next few days and provide some findings. Someone who has actually been to the places can probably provide more help though.

Thank you both for the feedback!
I think I will go for Beara due to a lack in time, and if allowed, visit Mizen Head too.
Thanks!!!

Unfortunately some of this was when I was a kid so maybe not practical to give you detailed advice...if you have to compromise, maybe pick 2 of the peninsulas as you still get to admire the others while driving along the various coasts...I'd probably pick Mizen and Beara and you still get a fine view over Sheep's Head, to your left, while driving from Mizen to Durres...

If you do go to Mizen, Ballydehob and Schull are good places to get out and stretch the legs while the cove at Crookhaven is eerily beautiful and the pub on the quay there does good food...Sheeps Head is more renowned for its bleakness, lack of population and human intrusion...Beara has lots to do and see...

if allowed, visit Mizen Head too.

It's quite OK...you have our permission...
