Hi all, we will be traveling to Ireland next week with my parents, sister & her husband. My parents are paying for the trip as a gift to the family, and we'd like to do something to thank them while we are there. While in Dublin, we will be staying at a condo near the Old Jameson Distillery.

One idea we had was to have a chef come to the condo to prepare a meal for my parents while the rest of us are out. Does anyone know of any services like this in Dublin?

I'm sure there are plenty of nice restaurants that we could send them to, but my father does not get around well so an in-home meal might work better.

Or if not this, can you think of any other suggestions that would be nice to thank an older couple (nearly 70)? Something that would not involve much walking would be ideal - carriage tour around the city, cooking lessons somewhere...?

Thanks so much!

This side of the Atlantic this service is called "catering" and the person who does it is called a "caterer". They will vary in how much preparation they do before arriving. From their point of view they might be concerned about exactly what facilities are available in a kitchen they don't know, and that can be a motivation for doing some advance preparation. If you search for "dinner party caterer" or "home caterer" you will find plenty. At the cheaper end, it will be an up-market "meals on wheels" service. But if you find a small better quality one, you can negotiate how it will work for you.
