Hello All,

I will be moving to Dublin for a student work placement program for the summer. I know the economy is in the pipes right now but my placement firm is taking care of that so this post isn't about work visas or that sort.

I will be living in Santry near DCU campus and will most likely be working somewhere in the financial district. I will be coming into town next week and wanted a little advice-I have lived in Central Europe and East Asia so I'm not new to this but this will be my first time to Ireland.

  1. I'm currently living in China and have been having reoccurring dreams about a full fry and a jar immediately after I fly in. Are there any good places with a full breakfast in/near Santry?

  2. I love sports and am fascinated with the GAA. Have done a lot of reading about football especially and bought a ticket to the Dub v Meath game on the 7th-What should I do for gameday? I have never been to a game so I think getting a Dubs shirt would be a little overboard but let me know-I'll be sitting in the Davin Stands...

  3. Low ticket lunches near city center-Does this even exist? Is it common practice to pack a lunch for work?

  4. Any info about student bus passes...

  5. Any information one thinks I should know, I hate making an ass out of myself so I've done a lot of reading- What is the reality in Dublin, Santry, and the like?

Thanks a million,

Ben

Check out dublinbus.ie for bus/student tickets, will need i.d. and photo.
Dubs shirts seen all round city on match days you won't stand out, unless your ticket is in a Meath enclave, can't help you there.
Lunches, not much low price in Dublin unless you make your own. Sunny days there are always lunchers in the parks, miserable when it's wet, though.
Santry is a quiet resedential area, good public transport provided you are near the bus stops. Some estates are quite large.
Enjoy the city. Lovely this weekend temp low 20s
