Hi
I have a wedding in Killarney on 29th and will be in Navan prior to that, then need to get to Cork airport early the next morning on 30th for flight at 1030 am. Was planning to go to killarney the 28th from Navan. Car hire from Navan to cork airport would seem like the obvious thing but costs a bomb cos of 1 way drop off fee 60 euro approx plus the car hire cost 100 euro. I have seen the busearus options and it is alot cheaper but seems to take along time ie. 2.25 hours killarney to cork centre then a 2nd bus. I'm not from ireland so not sure. Is there a best option for me and my boyfriend to make this couple of days trip?
Thanks for any advice

What about car rental from Dublin airport to Cork airport? budget-ireland.com don't charge a one way fee between these airports. Getting to dublin airport from Navan can't be too difficult, I'd imagine there would be a few buses going from Navan to the airport.
Can you clarify? When you say that you need to get to Cork airport "for a flight at 10.30", does that mean that your flight departs at 10.30 or that you need to be at the airport by 10.30? There's a big difference. If that's your flight departure time, what time do you have to check in by?
It looks like the earliest you can get from Killarney to Cork airport by bus is 10.00 but that's too late for your flight check in if your flight departs at 10.30. Use this journey planner
I think fergalh has misunderstood your post. Not surprising, I suppose, since Navan doesn't really have anything to do with your question as far as I can tell.

"Car hire from Navan to cork airport would seem like the obvious thing"
There's not alot to misunderstand about that... Navan has everything to do with the question. "wedding in Killarney on 29th and will be in Navan prior to that"
I'm not the one who misunderstood the question tony_b.
Fergal, I think the original post is confusing. The way I see it is that the OP's journey will go:
Navan 28th
Navan - Killarney 29th
Killarney - Cork airport 30th
if that's so. the OP won't be travelling from Navan on 30th, but rather from Killarney, so I don't see the relevance of getting from Navan to Dublin airport.
I think that when the OP wrote "Car hire from Navan to cork airport would seem like the obvious thing" he/she meant "Car hire from Navan to cork airport via Killarney would seem like the obvious thing". But maybe the OP can clarify because I might have got the wrong end of the stick.

"Car hire from Navan to cork airport via Killarney would seem like the obvious thing" is what I understood the post to be.
What I'm suggesting is, if the OP is in Navan on the 28th they can go to Dublin airport and pick up the hire car.
The idea of picking up the car in Dublin is that there is no one way fee between Dublin and shannon airports making the car rental that bit cheaper.

According to the Bus Eireann Journey Planner, there is frequent service between Navan and the Dublin airport. Check rates at Auto Europe for Dublin airport-Cork airport. AE is a consolidator that finds you the best rate from among the companies with which it has contracts.
