Hello,
Are there any decent jazz clubs in Dublin with live music? We're looking for something not too expensive... Also, any good movie theaters that play indie/classic cinema instead of just all the new mainstream junk?
Thank you!

The only dedicated jazz/blues club that I know of in Dublin is the new Bleu Note on the north end of Capel Street. I've heard good things about it, but I haven't been in it yet.

There are plenty of clubs and venues that do regular jazz nights, you'll find a current list here. The Boom Boom Club is good value and over a great pub.

As for cinemas, the Irish Film Institute is the main place for non-mainstream cinema. The Screen on College Street is also a good cinema for non mainstream. Cineworld on Parnell Street often has suprisingly off beat movies on its small screens - a relection of the big multiethnic population around there I suppose. The much lamented Lighthouse cinema is due to reopen in a few months in Smithfield, although as its a commercial venture forced on the developer I wouldn't hold my breath.

If there's anyone looking for info on the Dublin Jazz & Blues scene, take a look at the Dublin Jazz : Podcast and Gig Guide at www.dublinjazz.ie
It's got a weekly podcast and there's full gig listings for all venues.
