hi everyone,

is Ireland crowded with tourists in August ?
it's not the most interesting not the most clever of threads but I'm only trying to have a rough estimate of what will happen on my very last minute early August irish trip (one week that will include Dublin, Galway, Connemara, Northern Ireland...)

I hate tourist crowds and whenever I'm a tourist, I'm always trying to avoid them. I don't even care waking up at 5 in the morning for that if daylight allows it.
I also know it's not an easy question to answer since everyone has a different definition of "packed", "crowded with tourists"...

could anyone tell me approximately how bad it is in terms of tourists in Ireland in early August.
I have two points of comparison :
is it as bad as Italy ?
or only as bad as the Lofoten islands in August (that was kind of acceptable for me)

is it still possible to avoid crowds in some very lovely places ?
is traffic difficult (I'll have a car) ?
the place I fear most are Galway and the Aran islands. is the situation there in terms of tourists in August very bad ?:)

and a side question :
is it easy to find a spot on camping grounds when you arrive very late in the day ?
I'll try to camp in the wild as much as possible but sometimes, it's quite difficult if not totally unfeasible.

thank you all for helping on this a bit too general thread :)

Yes August, being a peak travel time of year
then you will meet tourists at some point, but just not as many
in past years
