Hi ya.
So, I've decided to work and live in Ireland for a year. It's no thing to get a visa but I'm hoping to get some info as to where to begin the adventure. I'll be there in April/May and would love to hear anyones' advice and experiences. I'm not super picky about where I live or what I'll be doing for work but I guess mostly into the great spots to hang out. I'm really looking forward to this and appreciate the feedback.

Thanks a bunch :)

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by that (I'm not a native English speaker).
What is your nationality? If you're not from an EU country you cannot work without a work permit or reside for 1 year without a visa.
Do you have any qualifications that may improve your chances of finding work?

Right so obviously now we're in the middle of a 'recession' which may affect your chances of finding work but I reckon as long as you stick to the slightly larger towns (we don't really do city outside of Dublin) I'm sure you'll find something! Where you want to go would depend on your personality, I personally am not a big fan of Dublin, I don't feel it to be a very Irish city but if you like cities then anywhere else would drive you crazy as they're all small even for towns in most parts of the world. If you're not set on a city atmosphere then I advise you to go live in Galway, Galway is a funny town because for me it's one of the most Irish towns in the country but also has quite a lot of tourism during the summer, during the year though it's pretty much a majority student town. Galway has probably the highest rainfall of anywhere on one of the rainiest islands every but it's just a place with an amazing energy and such beautiful scenery around. If you're not convinced by Galway then second reccommendation would be Cork which is also a fun and artsy place to be with amazing natural scenery in West Cork. Whatever you decide you will have an amazing year and given the size of the island it shouldn't be too hard to see a lot of what it has to offer!

Aribo,

I am a Canadian citizen and within the age of getting a one year work visa for Ireland so that's what I mean by it's no thing to get a visa. I have extensive experience in office adminstration and the hospitality field which usually gets me pretty far no matter where I go. I think I would like to just do something fun for work and am not super worried about making loads of money. If you have any recommendations, that would be great. Thanks!

as mentioned there is a lot of doom and gloom with recessions and ireland has been hit pretty hard but u should be able to get work in dublin. This notion of dublin not being an 'irish' city aint true (biased as a dubliner). Dublin is a great place to live and pick up work, meet some true blue dubs and go to some great pubs - stay away from temple bar and all tourist haunts.

cork is a cool place to live also and good for trips to west cork and kerry so that could be a good option for u.

agree galway is probably the best of the irish cities and if you could swing it i owould head try and spend as long as possible there.

best of luck
