post #25 I've just read the page from the Irish Times, it was a bit slow to download. Southsiderosie, those views only offer something to think about if one is a racist with a lobotomy. 'As an Ulsterman, I tell you that the hi-jacking of the name Ulster by the colonists gives you no right to endorse their lie'. I'm extremely surprised at the Irish Times allowing such garbage, I thought it was a reputable paper. I also notice, southsiderosie, that you are asking whether or not south Belfast is 'safe' following the incidents with the Roma, who have now returned to Belfast after insisting they were in so much danger the government had to repatriate them. There's something of a theme deleloping with your posts, isn't there southsiderosie? If you really are from the southside of Dublin then you can hardly claim such ignorance is genuine.

Wow, just found this again after months...I'm from the south side of Chicago, not Dublin. And I am not white, so yes I was concerned about the personal safety of people who look obviously foreign, given what was being reported about the situation with the Romanians at the time. As for the Irish Times, the quote you cited on Ulster was a reader comment in response to a blog post, not an article.

Finally, as for a "theme" in posts, yours seem to have a strong undercurrent of hostility, especially towards anything remotely nationalist or Catholic. Lucky for me, all of the people I met in Belfast were lovely and did not seem to have the massive chip in their shoulder that you do.

Please take back your accusation that I am biased towards 'anything remotely Catholic or nationalist' otherwise I will report you to the site moderators. 'As for the Irish Times', you quoted the article as being 'something to think about'. If you see it as something to think about, then your thinking is of an exceptionally undeveloped and very biased kind. I would strongly recommend you don't go back to Northern Ireland. Your expectation of hostility because you are non-white suggests you don't have enough common sense for overseas travel so it would be much safer if you stay at home.

The Irish Times is a Catholic paper

No, it's not. Check your facts.
