Thanks guys. One of the local shops contacted their head office this morning and they're supposed to be getting the 80GB Classic in silver before Christmas. They're going to put one aside for hubby as soon as they come in. The shop has the new shuffles, Nanos and yesterday got the itouch. I know buying online is supposed to be secure but he saw a news report a couple of weeks back that said hackers can get into anything and even reliable places like Amazon can't be fully trusted. The report he saw showed a lady who bought £400 worth of goods from a reliable website but £2000 was taken out of her account which she might not get back.
We do have Currys/Dixons in Belfast but whether they have them in is another question. It seems that the Classics are taking longer to become available than the others. Argos had 1 in which someone had reserved for store pick up through the website.

Yes i know shops decide what to stock but i would have thought that argos would stock something which they know will sell. They're advertising the classic in their Christmas gift guide so should have it unless they've had them in and they've sold out but a new product shouldn't be advertised until it's available as that false advertising in my book which is why i was thinking of going to Watchdog or Trading Standards.

no problem buy online from JOHNLEWIS.COM
J.L. is a very reputle company
they have shops throughout the U.K. mainland.

"hackers can get into anything and even reliable places like Amazon can't be fully trusted."
they can be trusted as much as high street shops, if not more so
as #7 illusrates hackers can get anywhere

The problem with buying online is more at your end than theirs... If you don't keep up to date with antivirus and antispyware programs, use a firewall, use an alternative browser, etc...

Went into Xtravision today and they still haven't got the ipod classic in so I started phoning a couple of places but no joy. Went to Argos which hasn't got the silver classic but does have the black one. I went to the customer service desk and asked if anywhere has the 80gb classic in silver and one of the big stores in belfast has them so one has been reserved which is being picked up next wednesday when hubby and i go up for the day. Only problem is hubby has said that he won't let me have it until Christmas Day and to make sure i don't use it before then is going to keep it in his locker at work.

That's great! A dream comes true!
But hubby is right to lock it safely away, it's a Christmas present after all. So be a good girl and be patient until Santa slides through the chimney with a shiny little thingy just for you. Aaah, the excitement of waiting for Santa ... two months counting ...
