Two of us will be travelling around Ireland next year for about a month. We thought it would make sense to rent a house/apartment in the north west, in the middle and then somewhere down south for a week in each area. Is there a website that does private rentals or do we need to go through an agency. we are looking to rent something "fairly reasonable" in each area. We don't need anything large -- just two of us-- but would like to be able to cook, etc.

Hi Ladnermag

I've not done it myself but my mum rents out her apartment in spain using www.ownersdirect.co.uk and www.holidaylettings.co.uk is also very good for finding stuff direct from the owners. try typing in holiday apartments in to google and maybe the areas you are looking to stay in. good luck!

Looks like what you are looking for is self catering accommodation, try these two websites they have a good selection of houses

Another option if homeaway.com (also connected to vrbo.com). I've been doing a lot of research (haven't booked yet) - most are big units, but there are some smaller and more reasonable places.

You could check out Irish Vacation Rental

There is a lovely cottage in East Cork at Whitethorn Cottage or an apartment at Youghal Kingfisher apartment
