And breathe #9. I was talking about #7. As I said. In my first line. No idea on Mountjoy.

Anything above Parnell St, IMO, is beyond central, you can differ. They charge seperately for breakfast on their website and they charged seperately for mine and there is no bar or cheap/free internet wihtout laptop. The parking one I'll take your word for.
And think, djpkemp, before you write.Maybe clarify which hostel you were refering to. Would it be possible for you to define "central" in relation to Dublin.
Abbey Hostel on Bachelors Walk (1min from bottom of O'Connell St) is really central and has option of shared/private dorms and also apartments (though of course these are pricier!!). The dorms are simple but clean and you can get them with private or shared bathrooms. The apartments sleep 4 people and have private bathroom and small kitchens. The apartments are located along the quay heading west along the river from Bachelors Walk to past the Ha'penny bridge.
The hostel has a common area and kitchen, storage, 24 hour reception and internet. The internet is overpriced, but its convenient. Breakfast is pretty ordinary - 2 slices of toast/cereal/juice/coffee/tea. I don't particularly like the kitchen there - it's long and has few pots/pans/utensils and it closes at 9pm!!
I don't think they have any parking spaces - there's really nowhere to park just there!
There's no bar/restaurant there - but there are bars all over the city, so it's not exactly that important is it?
As for Mountjoy square - it's about a 15-20min walk from the bottom of O'Connell St. It's not huge distance to walk to the city centre, though most places of interest (aside from Croke Park, Writers Museum) are on the other side of the river, so it can be a bit of a pain.
