Comments and/or feedback on the following: Ballyknocken House (Wicklow), Killiane Castle (Wexford), Lochinver Farmhouse (Cork), Carriglea House (Killarney), Dingle Benners Hotel (Dingle), St Judes (Galway), and Briar Lodge (Shannon).

Any ideas for "Must-See"s in these areas and also looking for all the hiking trails we can find. There were trail maps posted on-line for Oahu - any such for Ireland???

Will be seeing the usual tourist haunts, but if there is something else, would be interested.

Info about the Aran Isles while we are in Galway.

A quick driving route from Dingle to Galway??? is there a ferry to cross without driving to Limerick and on up.?

Just type the rest into the search field on trip advisor to see reviews. Easy.

Also, google is your friend. Try it- you should be able to come up with most of this on your own.

In general there aren't many detailed trail maps to be found online (as far as I know) - it's probably easier to pick up leaflets, books, and maps when you are here.

A few online walking resources:
Walking trails around Glendalough - this is an online version of a booklet available from the visitor centre. I highly recommend any of the trails to the Spink (or Spinc), especially the "Spinc and Glenealo Valley route - ideally on a weekday as the paths get quite crowded on summer weekends.
The Wicklow Way, The Dingle Way, The Kerry Way - three of the best known long distance ways, maybe not what you are looking for on a touring holiday, but might give you some ideas.
Walk Ireland - info about all the long distance ways and also some shorter looped trails (maps on the site are generally not great though).
Mountain Views - hillwalking enthusiasts' site.

There is a ferry across the Shannon Estuary from Tarbert to Killimer, useful if you want to drive via the coast of Clare; I'm not certain if it is quicker than the Limerick route if you just want to travel directly to Galway. Here is their website:

Rather you want to drive the coast or head straight to Galway the ferry should save you some time. The motorway to Galway is now finished. So, when you get off the ferry follow the signs to the N68. Take that toward Ennis till you hit a roundabout with an exit for N18 north to Gort and Galway.
Or better yet take the coast road, N68 toward Kilrush, then the N67 to Kilkee and on north up the coast to Galway.

The Aran Islans are a must when in Galway. There are 3 islands, i have only been to the biggest one inis mor. It costs 45Euros per person return www.aerarannislands.ie to get out there by plane, only takes a half hour, the scenery is amazing from the sky. Rent bicycles out there early in the day and cycle around to the different sites ancient sites, viewing areas and stop for a pint of guiness and a hearty lunch in a pub. If your young and fit you can do the big island in one day arriving at 9am and leaving at 5pm. But if you want a more relaxed trip with a night on the island listening to the locals all speaking gaelige around you in the local pub with maybe a bit of live music then you need to stay longer. Do a search on google for festivals in Ireland, there are some great ones in Co. Galway like the oyster festival and the horse racing fest where the city comes to a standstill and the streets are full.

The only one from the list that I've stayed in is Benners in Dingle. It's in an excellent location in the heart of the town.
Dingle is great fun!

There are now maps online, plus route directions, at http://www.wicklowwalks.com. As far as I know this is the only place with online maps.
