Hello!
I am on exchange in Letterkenny, a weekend is ahead of me and Giant's Causeway is not too far away.
I would like to visit GC in a one or (preferrably) two-day trip. I could, for example, leave Saturday morning, go there, stay the night somewhere, visit something else on Sunday and come back to L'kenny Sunday evening.
The thing is, that I will be traveling on public transport. I have already checked out ulsterbus.co.uk, but it tells me there is no connection on the 22nd.
Does anyone of you have any idea how i could get there?
Where could I stay, Bushmills? I am not interested in visiting the distillery, though.
I have been to Belfast already, so I would be happy staying in a small town on the Antrim Coast.. any suggestions?
Thanks for you help,
kornspitz

I can't really help you with a bus connection right now. I have to look it up myself. But there is one. I think the Antrim Coaster departs in Coleraine to Belfast or in the winter months to Larne via Ballycastle and Giant's Causeway. There is certainly a bus from Letterkeny via Derry to Coleraine. Best thing is to go to the tourist office, they should know. Or take the train, it's an amazing journey along the Derry coast.
You should stay in Ballycastle. There is a hotel, some B&Bs and a hostel. And lovely pubs! And there is afaik a bus connection to the GC.
Accommodation: More remote but absolutely devine is Whitepark House (www.whiteparkhouse.com), a beautiful though pricey B&B. Or the Whitepark Bay Youth Hostel (www.hini.org.uk).

Avoid Bushmills at all costs. It's a very sectarian place. I always found the atmosphere very unpleasant.
