From what I can tell, it seems there are two locations where ferries can take you to the Tory Islands...Magheraroarty and Bunbeg...I'll be coming from Dublin by bus but can't seem to find a bus route that will even get me close to either location. I don't mind transferring between towns or counties, does anyone know how I can reach either of those places by public transportation? Thank You!!!

I have been to Tory but I went by car.You should be able to get a bus from Letterkenny to Falcarragh but you might have to get a taxi from there to Magherorty.

The most likely approach is via Letterkenny and Bus Eireann. Change there and use Lough Swilly services to Gortahork via Falcarragh. You may have to change en-route. www.loughswillybusco.com for timetables or phone Letterkenny 074/912 2863. You may need a taxi from Gortahork but at least it is not too far. Otherwise try large TIC at Letterkenny www.irelandnorthwest.ie for info.
I do not think buses are scheduled to connect with the ferry which depending on weather can be late which may leave a long wait.
My recollection is that while there is a decent cafe at Magheraroarty there is not much choice of B&B. Of course using public transport you could return say via Bunbeg.
It is certainly worth the time and effort to get to Tory and say hello to the King!
Be flexible since though it is a modern ferry sea conditions can be poor and we have had delayed crossings due to gales even during the summer. I am sure this will have been true earlier this week.

John McGinley coaches run direct to Bunbeg (listed as Gweedore). http://www.johnmcginley.com/timetable.html
The Dublin - Annagary route is the one you want. Obviously services are not that frequent!
I would also recommend ringing them to check that this timetable is still up to date - they're a very small company and I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they didn't update their website all that regularly.
Also note that while all Bus Éireann services from Dublin depart from the central bus station (Busáras), the services of private operators such as McGinley don't - they have their own departure points around the city centre, which you'll need to check up on in advance if you're intending to travel with them.
