I am from the U.S. and will be traveling to Ireland this next semester for school. I'll have about a week and a half to travel before school starts and saw the Electric Picnic. I am extremely interested in going, but of course I will have no camping equipment! I'm not very knowledgeable on the Electric Picnic (minus reviews I've been looking up) but it looks amazing. I was hoping to find some one to go with or a tent to crash in. If not, what is anyone's advice? Who has been to the picnic and is it really worth the money and hassle?

In terms of camping gear you can pick up a festival tent for c. €20 at Dunnes or Penneys and sleeping bag plus mat for a similar amount, pair of wellies and you'll be as well equipped as most attendees.
Yeah they even start selling them in Tescos! The easiest, if you can carry it or youre using a vehicle, is to get a one-person pop-up tent (which can still, on a dry day, just about accommodate two people if you feel like sharing the fun!) The brilliant thing about them is you just release it, and it springs up in the air into a tent all ready. I swore by them during some of my craziest adventures, even though they are better suited to temporary arrangements. The trick is to practice folding them up again before youre at the festival. Due to the mechanism they are a rather large circular shape when collapsed though.
The outdoor shops in central Dublin are located in a cluster, where Abbey Street meets Capel Street, on both of those roads around that corner.
Note: I am not recommeding you stay for any ammount of time in Dublin, Im just assuming you might be landing on the island that way.
