Hi,
Will be in Ireland at the end of December / beginning of January for a few days. I am going to be in Westport for 3 nights, after that I have 4 nights left before flying out of Dublin. I would like to go only one other place for 2 or maybe 3 nights before going to Dublin. This will be during New Year's Eve, although we are traveling with an 11 month year old so finding a good New Year's party isn't anything we're concerned about. I have been to Ireland a few times before, but never in the winter. It will be my wife's first time, and I think I would like to stop by the Cliffs of Moher. I don't think I would like to base myself out of Galway though. My thought is to drive from Westport to Kylemore Abbey, take the quickest way from there and end up in Adare at the end of the drive. I figure then I can use Adare as a base to possibly take a drive down to Dingle for a day, or just chill out at the Dunraven Arms hotel with the family if we feel like just relaxing (they have an indoor pool, something we are looking for, in addition to a big room since we will have baby with crib).
Does anyone have any idea how much time that drive might take? If it's too long I don't think I will do this itinerary and will come up with something else. Since it's winter, I've been to Ireland before, we have a small baby, etc, I'm more concerned than usual about staying at the right place in an area with nice drives to take if we feel up to it... my other thought was to head up to Donegal as I've never been and have always heard how beautiful it is. I guess I'm looking for some advice on how long that drive will take, and maybe some other ideas with nice places to stay with indoor pools somewhere in or very near a nice medium sized town...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

I have been all over Ireland and Donegal is my favorite area. In my opinion the Slieve League Mountains are far superior to Cliffs of Moher. It is much less crowded, though not much should be crowded that time of year. I'm not sure how much hiking you will be able to do with a little one, but there are some great walks along the seaside cliffs in Donegal. It's a nice little drive along the coast. Swing into Sligo for lunch. From Doengal town you will want to continue on to Killybegs and Teelin to see the seaside cliffs.
